Summer time is here and the glow-up is definitely real. This is the time where women all over the world are preparing themselves to ‘shine’ at their summer cookouts, festivals, parties, and events.
Some women have actually been working on their ‘summertime fine’ since winter because apparently “summer bodies are made in the winter”. lol Outside of a few female trainers that I follow, I don’t actually know who those women are, but I’m sure they’re out there somewhere 🙂
I’m literally just getting back into my personal health and wellness and I must say it’s feels amazing.
However, as the days are getting longer and the sunlight brighter it’s a great reminder that it’s time for us all to tighten up a bit!
So today, I’m sharing simple skin care oils that will have you shinning all summer long. Before I go there though, let’s cover some of the basics. If you really want your skin to glow, you gotta first give some attention to:
- Eating healthier, and
- Moving your body.
These are both key to getting rid of toxins and impurities. If you’re not already into nutrition/fitness you can start by simply going for a walk or run 2-3 times a week and eating more antioxidant rich foods (fruits and veggies that are vibrant in color). Now to the Natural Skin Oils…
Argan oil is amazing because it actually balances out the natural oil production in your skin. What this means is it basically helps distribute oil from more oily parts of your skin to the less oily parts. Now, how bomb is that? Argan is also high in vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Which are all beneficial for healthy glowing skin. Assistant professor of dermatologyJoshua Zeichner tell how, “the fatty acids in argan oil help our skin cells make healthy membranes, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy collagen,”
Skin type: best for dry skin
Rose Hip Seed Oil
Rose hip seed oil contains omega-6 fatty acids and vitamins A and C, which are great for cell rejuvenation. Rose hip is your guy if you’re looking to smooth out fine lines, clear scars or uneven pigmentation. Experts say you see a noticeable difference after using argan for only a few weeks.
Skin type: perfect for clearing scars, smoothing fine lines, and it’s also good for acne prone skin.
HEMP SEED OIL
I LOVE hemp seed oil! From the nutty scent to how smooth it feels and all the way down to its health benefits, hemp is my guy! Hemp seed oil is actually considered “nature’s most perfectly balanced oil”. It contains all of the 21 known amino acids and offers the perfectly balanced 3:1 ratio of Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Hemp seed oil is so amazing that it prevents moisture loss in the skin, but it is light enough which allows it not to clog the pores. It actually rejuvenates the skin, giving you a more youthful glow. Can we say GLOW UP?!
Skin type: suitable for all skin types, but also great for eczema, acne and psoriasis.

I know you may be thinking that you don’t want to add oil to your skin, especially if you already have oily skin but TRUST me these works wonders. They are not super greasy and because they contain essential fats the skin absorbs them really nicely. Sometimes it does takes a little experimenting to find the perfect oil for you, but when you do, honeyyy you are in for a treat!
Now…you can use any of the skin care oils alone or you can try blending them to achieve the perfect moisture and shine you may be looking for. It’s best to use the oils after your morning shower or right before bed. I personally like to moisturize when I’m fresh out the shower in the morn.

SIMPLE ArgaN & Rosehip Oil Moisturizer
– adapted from Kristin Mar of Live Simply Blog
- 1 tbsp argan oil
- 2 tsp rosehip oil
- 10 drops essential oil such as: lavender, bergamot, or carrot seed.
Mix all the ingredients together in a small jar. (a bottle with a dropper is perfect for this). Shake the bottle to combine all ingredients. Apply.*Before using any oil(s) apply to a small area of your skin first to test for sensitivity.
